I love Rosebud Salve, usually found in a tin, I have been using this all over ointment, mainly on chapped lips and as a natural lip gloss since I was a little shorty. We aren't gonna lie, just like Taylor Swift chooses not to on her newest album 'Speak Now', we are LOVING HER!!!! This album tells all, and is literally every diary passage we either may have written, lived through or played out in our minds. lovestrength loves the fact that she was not scared to open up and say exactly how she felt. Honesty moves, the raw emotion in her lyrics is undeniable, and her words come from such a humble, genuine place. From anger, to sadness, to regret, to innocence, to joy found in love & life, she screams it out to the world. I think we could ALL learn a little something from Ms. Swift...don't you? If you aren't into teen pop/country or aren't into her....it's all good...but maybe tell that person next to you just how you are feeling...take a cue from Taylor and be bold.... and do it with love & strength. The Travelling lovestrength Tote Bag...

So this weekend while our tote traveled to the river with lovestrength’s creative director, it also traveled to Vegas with me. It was a much needed trip with a few friends and I decided to bring along my tote for some fun pics. We started off in the car in which I loaded my bag up with some goodies, IPod, and coconut water. I have been to Vegas many times but this was the first time staying at Planet Hollywood, so I was excited! The lobby of the hotel was amazing and there was lights that lit up the escalators that I could not take my eyes off of. When I arrived to the room I noticed there were a few pictures of Yazmine Bleeth former Baywatch star ( I used to love that show, I am not going to lie!) her swimsuit cased on the wall, and a shirt inside a table which lit up when you stepped on the switch. All of which I figured would be a great photo op! After some Baywatch love my lovestrength tote soaked up the sun at the Encore beach club and then got some rest on the 61^st floor of the Encore hotel. As my trip came to an end my friends and I stopped by a very interesting but cute place called Alien Fresh Jerky. They had everything from jerky, jalapeño pistachios, to chamoy gummy bears. Of course I ended up stocking my tote with some alien treats for the road. Check out the adventures my bag went on while in Vegas! Viva La Lovestrength!

I am a major nail polish fanatic, some might say I am obsessed. My fave brands are OPI & Essie due to durability. I rethink my polish at least once to twice a week depending on my mood or events I'm attending. Last week we had a photo shoot and it was such a beautiful day in LA with 80 degree weather so I decided to change it up. Instead of going for a darker color which is usually what I wear, I changed it and went with a fun red. I looked through my immense nail polish collection and chose OPI "A Oui Bit Red". Sparkling red nails, sunny skies and a smile on my face... now off to edit our photo picks! xx lovestrength

Everywhere I go I take my lovestrength fringe tote bag with me, the chronicles of a travelling bag...this is the first write up in a series of what we are going to title: The Travelling lovestrength Tote Bag...I had the chance to get away for a quick trip out to the Colorado river this weekend. The house has a huge open yard with a view of the river of which borders California from Arizona. It is a place that no matter what mood you had when you got there, you instantly feel relaxed and are in tune with the simplicities of life. I love picking up and going and of course I had my lovestrength tote packed full of work!! My favorite editorial Vogue 2010 features the stunning Blake Lively star of my favorite show Gossip Girl (I watch it for the clothes!!) and Rob Machado one of the top surfers of all time and a local in my hometown. A lot of the shots were taken at Cardiff Beach (southern California) a spot I visit often and is very near and dear to my heart. Seeing your roots played out in a fashion magazine is the ultimate, and no better duo to do it than a (local to us) and world hero/surf legend like Rob and an effortless natural beauty like Blake. I grew up being a fan of the band Social Distortion and over the years always knew of them and of front man, Mike Ness's powerhouse qualities and California gangster style. Highwater pants, suspenders, fedora hat and ferocious vocals that will make your skin chill. The new Social Distortion album Hard Times and Nursery Ryhmes is AMAZING! Fast paced songs that will shake your adrenalin and make you want to do something dangerous and slower sweet songs that speak old school Americana. This album is for the hard working blue collar type in all of us, an ode to our past, blues, folk, british punk, rockabilly, country and a beautiful image of the future; 30 years later Mike Ness and Soical Distortion are still doing what he and his bandmates love to do, and doing it their way. Here is to taking risks, paying homage to what was before us and fighting the good fight. OH and as far as fashion is concerned, Mike Ness makes me want to go suit up in menswear!! lovestrength hearts CA OG style!!

The GIVE N GO Project...

As Creative Director and Co-Owner of lovestrength clothing & accessories, starting out it was important to incorporate giving back into the business; at the end of the day fashion is just fashion. In a way it floats on the surface, while humanity digs deep. Lending a hand in any way one can, shows depth of character, an awareness of the world around us, and an appreciation for the amazing things we have, while others around the globe may not be so fortunate. Growing up I was a soccer star and played all the way from 5 years old, through college and semi-pro into my mid twenties, it was my life. That is why when I came across the charity: The GIVE N GO Project, I knew lovestrength had to be a part of it. The founder Amber Tollefson, is a go getter, an inspiration, innovator, and a pure humanitarian. Soccer is a way of life in countries outside of the US and a source of positivity for the youth. lovestrength will be teaming up with The GIVE N GO Project in the coming months and is anxious to start spreading the love. An ode...to those who dare to love...

...I had to write this...this is an ode, an ode to all the great people in my lifetime now and before me, who have done everything that they could to seek out what it is they love. Doing what you love is a feeling unmatched, the struggle to get there, almost seems like the bait dangling in your face, testing to see if you deserve the ultimate prize, the satisfaction of living out your true self. It does get tiring being knocked down, and consistently having to put on a happy face, hone into positive thinking and brush off the wounds, only to get knocked down again, but at least when you hit the ground, you feel it...you feel ALIVE. Like what you are aspiring is for a higher purpose, if not to others around you, at least to yourself and your own peace of mind and heart's fulfillment. TO YOU...who have fought this fight, to you who are fighting this fight, and to you who are on the other side of it and have conquered the battle, I praise you. It is true, nothing good comes easy, and I am sure the times we remember are the times we are truly humbled by. I am right there in the battlefield with you, but the thrill of the pursuit of finding my truth, is what keeps me from breaking.

lovestrength LOVES vintage... discovering great vintage shops and strolling through the aisles, feels like a journey back in time, or a teetering feeling of being on the verge of finding out about someone's elses secret. When we buy a vintage piece, we think to ourselves, what was this person's story...did they love this item as much as I do now...why did they give it up? We also think about the time and place where they used or wore the piece, another form of escapism.

What we wear becomes an inherent part of "our story".

We at lovestrength believe in a lifestyle, and in this lifestyle we are rooted in all things creative and in all who create. One of our favorite things to do and get ready for, of course with some lovestrength gear (coming soon...the perfect tank dress...)....is to go to see live music. From the long grassy fields of a music fest swarmed with people, to a small tiny dark, sticky, basement like venue, to a traditional amphitheatre or stadium, we are there. Music and those who play it, inspire; they inspire to feel, they inspire to allow us to connect closer to our emotions, and they offer us in one single, solitary moment a shared existence. That moment of, "Wow, I REALLY get it, I have been there, YES, my heart ached that bad too, YES, I am not alone, WE are not alone." All I can say is, John Mayer, San Diego, California the eve of August 25th 2010....the sky was lit with a radiating full moon, J M as it states on his guitar strap, walked out on stage with overgrown Greg Brady gone awry... meets Napoleon Dynamite hair, with a Richard Simmons meets Rambo headband, possibly just waking up from the long flight over from his last show...black shirt, 90's baggy cargo pants, white sneakers...and a vengeance to play his guitar like a lone werewolf in the night....which also made his unkempt appearance that much cooler...and my friends....in one swift stroke of his first chord, he owned the city. Not sure what the consensus is, on any one musician, but I am hear to speak of the stroke of genius that was witnessed and how you can walk away, just from hearing notes float through the air, and feel moved, mentally and physically, it really is as if, your mind is buzzing with electricity and your feet seem to have a bit of swing in them after a great show. From jamming out on a miniature baby guitar big enough for a 3 year old with the alto-saxophone player, to covering Prince's amazing song, (and the most unexpected cover song), "Raspberry Beret"...(yes it will make you want to go to the hat store and buy one), to on the last song before the encore, laying his guitar on the ground reminiscent of one Jimi Hendrix (another lovestrength LOVE), and playing it upside down just with his fingers (not strapped around his body) and not just playing, RIPPING, TEARING, SHREDDING and just leaving nothing left on the stage; only his old Fender Strat BEGGING for sweet mercy. This man, on this night, disheveled hair, headband, and cargo pants, proved to be in his own right, a true artist and not just a true artist, an artist who is skilled and has put blood, sweat and tears into his craft for years. Like him or don't but appreciate his ownership of that six string machine. Lovestrength loves that about John Mayer:).....With that being said....Does anyone have any great concert stories or moments that you want to share???And of course, what were you wearing???
